MY. (2020), 2 of 2
Acrylic on canvas
MY. is a series of two acrylic paintings that explore the difficulties of managing heartache and healing. It tells a story of a Black woman’s experience with depression, health failures, heartbreak and grief.
Through this suffering, she discovers herself, falls in love again and learns the true meaning of healing. This series’ main message is to depict the feelings she faces in the midst of her healing process.

MIRROR, MIRROR, WHO AM I? (2021)
Acrylic on canvas
Mirror, Mirror, Who Am I? observes the ways in which we perceive ourselves. It looks at the formation of self-perception at large, from the self of a Black body. This work explores the ever-evolving ways self-perception transforms by recognizing the external influences and socialization that develop our understanding of self.
